Do I need a data protection officer in Egypt?
Yes, if your business is a legal entity acting as a controller or processor. Article 8 of Law No. 151 of 2020 requires every such entity to appoint a qualified data protection officer and register them with the Personal Data Protection Center. Controllers and processors outside Egypt must also appoint a representative in Egypt.
The officer and the licence are obligations of the business itself, separate from what its website shows visitors. The consent banner is the part a visitor sees first.
