Shopify's built-in cookie banner or a consent app?
Shopify's own cookie banner is free and governs Shopify's cookies and pixels; its automated setup targets the UK and EEA. If your store also runs pixels added by hand or through apps, such as Google Ads or the Meta Pixel, Shopify says you may need a third-party cookie banner. A consent app covers those tags too.

Which one fits your store
Shopify's banner can be enough when
your store runs only Shopify’s own tools, with no Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok or analytics tags added by hand or through apps.
A consent app fits when
you run Google or Meta tags, sell to Saudi or UAE visitors, want the banner in Arabic, or need a record of who agreed and when.
Either way, check the storefront
Open it in a private window, confirm a banner appears before you choose, and run a free scan to see which tags load first.
What the Arqam360 app adds
Arabic banner, right to left
Written in Arabic, not machine-translated, shown on Arabic storefronts, with English beside it.
Switched on from your theme
The banner is a theme app embed: after installing, turn it on under Online Store › Themes › Customize › App embeds. No code to paste.
Shopify hears the answer
Each choice is written to Shopify's Customer Privacy API, so Shopify and its pixels follow the visitor's answer.
Google tags wait
Consent Mode v2 starts denied and updates when the visitor chooses, so Google Analytics and Google Ads tags hold back until then.
Meta Pixel held too
A script-blocking setting holds known advertising scripts, such as the Meta Pixel, until consent. It is off by default, because blocking scripts can break a storefront: switch it on, then check your store.
Every choice recorded
Each answer is kept with its date and time, so you can show who agreed and when.

Is Shopify's cookie banner free?
Yes, it is part of Shopify's customer privacy settings. Shopify sets it up automatically for visitors in the UK and the EEA when you have active markets there, and you can choose to show it in any region.
What does Shopify's banner not cover?
Shopify says its banner governs Shopify-specific tools, including cookies and Shopify Pixels. If you installed third-party cookies or pixels manually or through apps, Shopify says you may need to use a third-party cookie banner.
Can I use both?
Use one banner, so visitors answer once. Arqam360 writes each choice to Shopify's Customer Privacy API, so Shopify's own cookies and pixels follow the same answer. Until you turn on the Arqam360 app embed, Shopify's banner, if enabled, is the one visitors see.
Which is better for a Saudi store?
If the store runs Google or Meta tags, a consent app: the Saudi PDPL normally needs consent before analytics and advertising tags run, for each purpose, with a record. If it runs only Shopify's own tools, Shopify's banner shown in Saudi Arabia may do.
How do I switch?
Install the app, turn on its app embed in your theme, and save. Then switch off the Shopify banner region you set up, so visitors see one banner, and check the storefront in a private window.
