The cookie policy your consent banner links to, for UAE websites
Your consent banner should link to a cookie policy. Under the UAE data law, consent must be specific and informed, so the policy explains each purpose, says refusing is as easy as accepting, and tells visitors how to withdraw. Then it lists every cookie with its provider, purpose and duration, and who receives the data. Start from the free template, or have us write it.
What it must contain
What your consent banner links to
The policy says that analytics and advertising cookies wait for the visitor’s answer in your consent banner, that refusing is as easy as accepting, and where they withdraw consent later.
What the UAE data law asks
Consent that is specific and informed, so each purpose is explained in plain words. In the DIFC, nothing is pre-ticked and silence is not consent; in the DIFC or ADGM, say which free-zone law you follow.
How you protect your visitors
How a visitor withdraws consent or asks about their data, and who you are: the business name, address and an email for privacy questions.
The cookie categories
Necessary, analytics, advertising and preferences, each explained in plain words, so the visitor knows what they agree to.
Every cookie, listed
A table with each cookie your site sets: its name, who sets it, its category, its purpose and how long it lasts. A free scan lists them for you.
Who receives the data
The analytics and advertising providers you use, and where they process the data.
Cookie policy or privacy policy?
Both. The cookie policy covers the cookies behind your consent banner. The privacy policy covers everything else you collect, such as orders, accounts and forms. "Privacy policy" gets about 1,000 searches a month in the UAE; "cookie policy" about 50. Start with the privacy policy if you have neither.

Is a cookie policy mandatory in the UAE?
The UAE PDPL has no provision written for cookies. But consent has to be specific and informed, so the cookies that need it need a clear explanation the consent banner can link to. A cookie policy is that explanation.
Does the UAE law apply to a site run from abroad?
It applies to organisations outside the UAE that process the personal data of people inside it, for example through analytics on their site.
English or Arabic?
Publish it in the languages your visitors read. Most UAE business websites run in English and Arabic, and the free template has both.
Can you write it for me?
Yes. For $99 (AED 369) one-off, we write it from a real scan of your site, in English and Arabic, our team reviews it, and we link it from your consent banner within 5 working days. It is included in the Managed setup.
